| What is SEO? |
|
Do you really understand the concepts of SEO?
According to our experience, we summarize the concepts of SEO into 5 principles. These 5 principes are super easy to learn.........hey don't misunderstand "SEO IS A ROCKET SCIENCE". Try to use your common sense to study these topics..
I. Postulation: when will your website need SEO? II. Define the purpose for your online business III. Off-Site Optimization IV. On-Site Optimization V. Factors that control the traffic result
Hey.....my guys are making a video to demonstrate this concept. The video clip is free and available very soon.Labels: become advanced, your first step |

| Full Time or Part Time |
| Wednesday, June 28, 2006 |
It is another important topic we discuss today.
Start your internet business full time or part time?
If you are newbie, part-time is better.
Reasons: 1. You will lose your constant income when you quit the job...you cannot bet everything on the uncertainty (new business on the internet) 2. You need to spend time to study and find a business model to suit your style. At this moment (the learning phrase), the online income most likely is very small
Once the income from your "part-time" business is much more than the full time job, and you have around 6-month reserve to cover your business investment and daily expenditure........and one more point, you know how to expand your business and enlarge the inflow after quitting your job........then I will suggest you......
"Just Do It". |

| Meeting with a newbie from Hong Kong |
|
Toay I spent 2 hours to have a drink with a 6-month "newbie" - Michael.
It is always nice to share my experience with newbie, especially in Hong Kong.
He told me he spent a lot of time, money to buy A, B, C, D, E Adsense course.
It is not a bad idea to invest small money and time to study what this industry does. However, it is a problem he buys so many courses without spending time to study them.
Anyway, Adsense is just a tool for you to generate revenue. You must have a business model to master a set of strategies to generate revenue. You apply different strategies to generate profit from Adsense.
I ask Michael a simple question: Based on your existing knowledge and resources, can you generate $1 net profit?
He said "No".
How about you? Can you generate $1 net profit from your knowledge and resources?
If yes, how about $10 net profit? If yes, then...how about $100 net profit?
This is the objective of your business model.
Hey...from today, please try not to buy any course or software.
Just sit and think...what is your business model and existing strategies to generate profit? How much can they generate?
Then how you can double or triple your profit.....?
Write down the points and read it again and again...this is your business plan. |

| Research on "Local Search" - if you cannot get the data from Overture |
| Tuesday, June 27, 2006 |
If your website focuses on "local market", it is quite difficult to estimate the traffic volume from search engine like yahoo or google especially when Overture cannot provide data to these countries e.g. Singapore or Malaysia.
This is a very dummy method you can try to estimate the traffic for a particular keyword in Google.
1. Open an Adwords account 2. Input the keyword 3. Select the targeted countries to display the "ad" 4. Use minimal bid e.g. $0.05 and set the budget less than $10 5. Spend 24 hours (if possible 7 days) to look at total number of impression
From the impression, you can see how many "searches' are for these keywords in Google. This data can be the daily (or weekly if you test it for 7 days) traffic for the keywords. However, I suggest you to start a 7-day test coz the daily traffic always varies from day to day.Labels: your first step |

Coach someone to make money from Adsense. 2 conditions.
1. Help a guy/gal to make $100,000. 2. Help a guy/gal to make $1,000.
Obviously it is easier to teach someone to make $1K/month. To teach a guy making $100K, the effort is similar to what we coach 100 newbies to make $1K.
In fact, 99.9% of people around us are newbies. This $1K can help them to pay bill, loan and credit card....etc. Is it a bigger contribution of teaching the newbies rather than the pro. publisher?
This $1K is very meaningful.. |

Is it non-sense to make $10K when you cannot make $1K right now?
Think again.
It is good to have a sequence of small success in your life. They accumulate, and become a big one finally.
I believe there is a relationship between success. From small success A to small success B...one by one..
When your Adsense earning is not more than 1K per month, please target to >$1K first. Your profit will accumulate like your success and happiness.Labels: your first step |

| Start internet business in foreign market. Case study: China |
| Saturday, June 24, 2006 |
Last week I attended the Internet Wealth Code seminar. I heard a very funny story.
An attendee asked one of the speakers about the possibilities to start online business like selling info-products in Chinese market. Is it possible?
The funniest part is...this speaker said "Yes, you can. Let see Baidu.com or sohu.com.."

If you were me, what did you think?
Definitely, if you have billion dollars in your bank account, you can start your own "baidu.com - the largest chinese search engine in the world". However, I wonder why you don't retire with billions dollars.
As far as I know from my research findings, I can see that it is quite non-profitable to sell info-product in mainland China. It is because "Copy Is Right". The local Chinese didn't know how to respect intellectual property....
However, it doesn't mean you cannot make money from this market.
Since early 2005, I saw the growth of publishing business in mainland China. Baidu.com, Sohu.com and QQ.com are the major PPC agents instead of Google Adsense. Most local Chinese marketers jumped to this business because this program is easier to understand compared to selling online, managing affiliate program or customer support. "Click and make money..." It's very easy to do.Labels: your first step |

| I guess this is me... |
| Thursday, June 22, 2006 |
1 min ago I got an email from www.imnewswatch.com (Mike Mograbi's site).
I find a guy called Kelvin Hui in the message....it is like he is me....
Hi Kelvin
Here's a quick message to tell you about a simple yet awesome and effective way I use to overcome hesitation, failure and fear as well as reduce stress level to rock-bottom levels in order to succeed big time online.
Are you playing, enjoying and winning the online "game"?
Kelvin, I wanted to share with you a very nice/fun/simple concept that could change your entire view of what you're doing online, forever.
I learned this concept from my friend, Kelvin Hui, who makes six figures a month online.
I chat with Kelvin every day. After some time, I started realizing something important about how Kelvin views/works on the web.
Kelvin considers the web and all he does online as a fun (video) game. He looks at numbers, (S.E.) positions and profits as SCORES. And he's always trying to get the highest scores in any online "game" he plays.
Kelvin is online almost 20 hours. When I asked him if he ever gets tired and how he manages to do that, he said it's FUN! Exciting! It's not work! It's a game!
I liked that concept and decided to try looking at some of my online work as a game. Things changed instantly.
Working online became much more enjoyable for me, thereby reducing my stress to rock-bottom levels. This is the magic of the "Fun" element.
My results in everything started skyrocketing: sales, # of subscribers, Alexa rankings, etc.
Needless to say, considering the web as a "game" does not mean you start taking things lightly. On the contrary! Also, that doesn't mean you start cheating to get higher scores.
You see, when you consider the web as a game, you start enjoying the process and you start "working hard AND SMART" to find ways to improve and get the highest scores!
Here's a great benefit of this concept:
When you start playing the web "game", you no longer have FEAR to do "experiments" and try out/test anything! You automatically find yourself trying out all ways imaginable to improve your score. No more limitations. No more HESITATION.
And "failure" is automatically erased from your online dictionary. When playing a video game, you never say: "I failed." What you usually do is, you restart the game and try out NEW things now :)
Now, you are quick to test/try out new things, new ways. If they work... GREAT! If they don't, you rush to try another way to improve your score.
Fear, hesitation, failure are now... NON-EXISTENT in this web "game".
Playing the web "game" has requirements:
You need to know the basics, rules and guidelines.
(To Be Continued...)
Have a great day. Mike Mograbi www.imnewswatch.com

Note: Without fun, why we are still "playing" so hard? |

| How do you plan for maximum success? |
| Wednesday, June 21, 2006 |
I have a friend who is the owner of a big corp. I loved to talk to him because he is very smart, and very aggressive. I particularly loved his approach to launching new programs and products. They called it: "Ready, fire, aim."
It is a very analytical company to be sure. Yet, he rarely suffers from analysis paralysis. He starts with a potentially good idea, conduct his due diligence, put together a business case (including analysis of comps), make revenue projections, measure the plan against other revenue opportunities, and if it stacks up, he pulls the trigger. Then he watches carefully, fine tune as he goes, and occasionally even make a sharp turn. And the kicker: At this company, big failures are prized as much or more than minor successes, or at least that was so back then.
All of which relates to a conversation I had the other day with my team members. We have too many projects on our plate. But what to do?
- Do we stop coming up with new ideas, until we sort out the potential of what is currently in development? - Do we make "yeah" or "nay" decisions on the ideas in development now (and if so, based on what criteria)? - Do we float out some of our more "iffy" site ideas out there, and see if they stick (and if so, how many, or what percent of our development budget)?
Hey wait a minute...
We don't have a development budget. In fact, we don't even have an organized way of operating. And when we stepped back, we realized that quite possibly, as much as 20%-30% of our time and resources might be frivolously spent in any given month.
Bottom line: We realized that we're out of control. Time to move to the next level, and stop acting like clueless wannabe's, launching projects and schemes by the seat of our pants.
So now, we are in the process of redefining how we do business. - What makes a good idea? - Do we really need to put together a business case for every new idea worth serious consideration now? - What should our development budget be? - What criteria should we have for entering new categories? - Have we leveraged all of our existing opportunities (e.g., building new sections/pages on existing sites) before going off and starting new things from scratch? - Do we have old live domains sitting around that could get traction faster than never-been-developed domains? - What about our parked domains?
We're still sorting it out, but one thing is sure. If we don't come up with better ways of deciding where we spend our time and how we prioritize our projects in development, we're never going to be as efficient or profitable as we could be. |

| Internet Marketing at Local Level |
| Tuesday, June 20, 2006 |
Today I heard a story about internet marketing at local level....I love to share it with you..
"... At one of my favorite mens clothing stores, when you make your first purchase you're asked if you want to 'join the program'. It's painless. The clerk fills out your size information after you've been fitted, and all you have to do is fill in your address and email. You can tell when they talk about 'THE PROGRAM' that they think of it in capital letters, in quotes. I didn't have such lofty thoughts as I just assumed 'the program' was their permission marketing procedure.
It is their permission marketing program, but they execute well. Michael informed me when I joined 'the program' that they were in the middle of restructuring it. And when I started getting $5 printable coupons in my email addressed to 'Sir', I certainly didn't think much of current system.
So today I get an email, and I'm paraphrasing,
"Hello Dean, Michael, your personal consultant, has some special offers for you today'.
What followed was an assortment of clothing that was chosen based on my previous purchases. And then, the clincher, 'If you would like to purchase any of the following items, simply check the appropriate items and Michael will have them tailored, (if necessary) and ready for pickup the following business day by 2 pm.'
If you would like to speak with Michael, he can be reached at 555.1234. If you prefer, the items you select can be shipped directly to the address listed below if you purchase by credit card, or if you are traveling, the items can be shipped overnight anywhere in the continental U.S. for a small fee. Orders over XXX.XX, are shipped free.
Then, a small message from Michael,
'Hi Dean, I picked this assortment specifically for you, based on my current inventory and the specials my store is currently running. I appreciate your business and I've included a coupon code for XXX.XX off of your purchase. If you have any questions call me at the store, 555.1234, or my cell at 555.5678. I hope you enjoyed your trip to someplace USA'.
Now no one at this clothing store could have known about my last trip to somewhere USA except for Michael, as it was disclosed during conversation as I was being fitted.
For me, that's a perfect example of how local marketing using the World Wide Web should work. The originating email address was their corporate HQ. ....."
Is it the model you are working with? If not, please take a look, rethink and consider how to apply it to your existing model.Labels: your first step |

| What did you change that made the most improvement of your Adsense profit? |
| Thursday, June 15, 2006 |
There are some suggestions:
Change Ad Format 1. Adding one single ad unit (336x280) in the centre of the screen above the fold. May sound obtrusive but the right design structure it looks totally natural. 2. At 3 column layout : moving navigation from left to right, and moving adsense from right to left 3. Removed/blocked some specific advertisers from showing up. 4. Changed the colors so that the background and border are "invisible", the text the same color as the page text and the title the same color as links on the page. Then placing the ads in the same page areas as links so that people see a colored link on the page, then instinctively notice the ad titles assuming that they may be related links. Ad revenues tripled once I did that, the ads were simply noticed more. 5. The best change we made was blending AdSense into the articles and also putting a human face picture next to it to attract attention.
Remove Adsense From Low Performing Pages 1. Spinning off lower performing pages to YPN, no smart pricing and kept them out of mix with high eCPM pages on Madsense. 2. Going from 2-3 adblocks to one per page, removing Adsense entirely from low performing pages and weeding out as many MFA's as possible.
Content Size 1. Reduce the size of the webpages . This reduce no. of adblocks in the pages and increased both CTR and Avg.EPC. |

Ebay launched New Contextual Ad System
Reference: http://money.cnn.com/2006/06/10/technology/ebay_advertising.reut/
Today Ebay.com launched a new contextual ad system which is quite similar to Google Adsense and Yahoo Publisher Network.
However, it is not a pay-per-click program. Indeed,it is like the other affiliate feeds e.g. Amazon or Clickbank.....
"Web site affiliates receive a cut of 35 percent to 60 percent of SALES"
Can we put Adsense & Ebay together? If it's contextual does that mean that it could not be used on a page with adsense :-( |

| Google Adsense - It's still an unproven science |
| Thursday, June 08, 2006 |
Adsense program is like an alternative medicine. It is not well proven by scientific method. We can face some good or bad situation without any reason. So I cannot say we have a proven scientific method to run Adsense business.
The below list was built from the tests and posts by many webmasters and my personal experience, it won't all work for every site. Test for yourself on a small scale and for long periods and find out for yourself what really works for your site.
1. Low CTR: Blend, put ads to heatzone, test colors, decrease # of ad units 2. Low EPC: Block MFA, decrease # of ad units, improve content topics, lookup SmartPricing 3. Earnings High Fluctuation: Try removing ads from low performance pages 4. Low Earnings: Build more content, get more visitors, see Low EPC, test AdLinks, test Referrals 5. Bad Targeting: Find & zap the offending keywords in your pages, lookup section targeting 6. Low Number of Visitors: Lookup SEO 7. Sudden surge in Traffic: Study stats, don't panic it's good news 8. Sudden surge in Clicks: Study stats, don't panic but inform Google if CTR is to the roof and all from few IPs 9. Clicked my own AD: Just don't do it again, if repeated inform Google 10. Can't Login: Check connection, wait 1 hour see if its reported already on WW, contact support 11. Low sense of security: Join the club, diversify with other networks, use alternate ads 12. Payment is late: Stop complaining, wait one month the contact Google 13. Statistics Stuck: Stop complaining, wait few hours, prepare for a click dump 14. How to find MFA: Lookup AdSense preview tool 15. Support did not reply: It takes time, contact them again if more than 2 weeks passed 16. Competitive Filter Full: Nothing can be done, check list for old or expired sites 17. I got banned: Send an appeal if honest, offer stats, move on 18. Where do I learn more: You are in the right place, just read a lot before posting a question
CTR= Click Through Ratio EPC= Earnings per Click Targeting= How ads are related to the content MFA= Made for AdSense - a bad thing, pays low SmartPricing= An enigma, look it up yourself SEO= Search Engine Optimization Labels: become advanced, your first step |

| Website Design - Simple Is The Best |
|
Simple is the best.
Text content should out weight the html content. The pages should validate and be usable in everything from Lynx to leading edge browsers. eg: keep it close to html 3.2 if you can.
Search engine spiders are not to the point they really like eating html 4.0 and the mess that it can bring. Stay away from heavy: flash, dom, java, java script. Go external with scripting languages if you must have them - there is little reason to have them that I can see - they will rarely help a site and stand to hurt it greatly due to many factors most people don't appreciate (search engines distaste for js is just one of them).
Arrange the site in a logical manner with directory names hitting the top keywords you wish to hit.
Loading speed of web page is very important for spiders. Your site should respond almost instantly to a request. If you get into even 3-4 seconds delay until "something happens" in the browser, you are in long term trouble. That 3-4 seconds response time may vary for site destined to live in other countries than your native one. The site should respond locally within 3-4 seconds (max) to any request. Longer than that, and you'll lose 10% of your audience for every second. That 10% could be the difference between success and not. |

| Why Business Video? |
| Monday, June 05, 2006 |
Too many people want to start their own business. It is a fact.
I attended several seminars for beginners. I found that most of the people did not have any basic concepts or knowledge to start business.
Most likely, they will focus on their products/business ideas.
However, they dunno how to execute it. Sometimes, they even dunno what a business is. Asset, game, debt...they have no idea.
It is similar to the SEO beginners who are just looking for "ultimate weapon" instead of foundation concepts. It is very dangerous.
I designed the project Videos Monthly. The main reason is....there is lack of business video course for public.
Maybe you can find a lot video courses like product launch, product development....etc. But they are not basic enough...secrets..secrets...secrets......Supposed the beginners understand the basic, otherwise, they cannot realize what the secret is.
Videos Monthly is a series of business course from why you start a business, how to write a business plan, financial management, product development to create and manage a marketing campaign.
So what's the purpose of this project?
This is a site for resellers. They will get a new course every month, rebrand and sell it to the market. Since the course is different every month, this means resellers will have new content to sell to the market.
The best idea is.....these courses relate to each other. This means....if someone buy course 3, they will most likely buy course 1 and course 2.
Funny? Let's go to Videos Monthly to take a look. |

| I love to make video, how about you.....? |
|
As a publisher or marketer, I feel that video product is easier to sell.
Personally I love to make video product. Why?
1. I am lazy. I prefer to make a small video to present ideas and demonstrate skills. Last week I did a small experiment. I presented a basic SEO idea in front of my colleagues. It costed me around 25 minutes. If I record my presentation as video, then it should be around 25 minutes. However, it will be a hundred-page report when I put it to pdf or word format.....terrible?
You like to spend 25 minutes to learn something or few hours to read hundred-page report?
2. It is easier to sell. Lately Patric Chan sold the Adsense DVD course Publishing Business Secrets. Over 100 hundreds were sold within 3 days. Is it good? To me, it is easier to present SEO ideas with video rather than PDF. It is because too many technical skills are difficult to present. Video is the best way to present the idea.....also people love to watch video rather than report.
Note: how many time will you fall asleep when you read a book?
3. Human behaviour. It is easier to learn via video.
a. Text report - you use your eyes to read the text, your brain analyzes the meaning of every word, and then you get the concept supposed you understand what the author writes
b. Audio file - you use your ears ONLY to hear what the speakers present.
c. Video - you use your eyes and ears to sense the content of the video. This means you use 2 different sense organs to study the same thing. It is much more powerful than using 1 sense organ only.
4. Less competitors. Not many marketer can afford to make a video course. The reasons may be
a. They are shy b. They cannot speak English very well (like me I am Chinglish speaker, but I hire Adrian as actor to present, so it is not a problem) c. Facilities for video recording, editing.....etc
So it consumes more resources to make videos....if you can sell professional video, you have advantage.
Lately, I started a project Videos Monthly. It is a very good reseller program who want to start a video selling business.
The videos of this program Videos Monthly, they are not public domain or free copyright. Indeed, I invest a lot of money for the video production. The most beautiful thing is...I allow the members to rebrand the video (private label). This means, you can start your own video site easily.

| Social Bookmarking: A New Way To Get Backlinks? |
| Saturday, June 03, 2006 |
Social bookmarking is not a new strategy to get backlink.
If you are active in http://del.icio.us, then you should know what social bookmarking is.
This kind of activity has started around 2 years ago. It is not new now.
Basically, Social bookmarking is a game of "tag" and "object". Tag is the keyword and the object can be an URL, photo, mp3 file...etc
Ok....the story starts here...
You can post a tag with object say "adsense" with the link "http://www.adsense.com". In the social bookmarking site like http://del.icio.us, anyone can bookmark this tag and it will be shown on the member's page. A new backlink is from there......If this member's page has good pagerank, this means you will get a good backlinks.
Is it a white hat or black hat strategy?
White hat....your backlink depends on how many people bookmark your tags and how good pagerank of their member's profile is......This strategy works very well.
My colleague Joey Wong has prepared a set of videos (Backlink Video) to tell you how my SEO team work out the backlink campaign with social bookmarking. It will be available around 3rd week of June..
Note: Social bookmarking is a very good backlink strategy. However, it is not the content of my underground program "backlink secrets". |

| This Is Real "Blacklink Secrets" |
| Friday, June 02, 2006 |
I "seo" my sites with black and white hat strategies. Black hat can produce fast but short-term results. White hat can produce long-term performance but slow response.
Regardless of Black or White, for SEO you need "good backlinks".
Now I don't need to beg someone to exchange links with my site, using any link exchange software, buying backlinks from ebay or text link brokers. With this "new secrets", I can build as much backlinks as I want. The best part is....this Backlink Secrets is white hat strategy.
With this strategy, I can build backlinks for my foreign sites like Japanese, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Chinese...etc It is universal. However, it is not for everyone. It is for professional! I will show this strategy to 50 friends only. If you are ok to sign NDA (non-disclosure agreement), then you can leave your email here........ |
