| Traffic Drop in Summer Holiday |
| Friday, July 28, 2006 |
Let we look at the traffic chart of clickbank.com and sitesell.com.
These 2 sites are the top traffic site of internet marketing industry. You can see, around summer holiday, both the traffic of these 2 sites dropped sharply in 2005 (not 2006).
So we can expect our site traffic will drop too. Ok...let's go to the beach together!
Similar situation in Japan, too!

| User driven social content network |
|
This day is coming.
This domain "ambatch.com" will become an user driven social content network.
Maybe you've heard about I am working on an open source publishing project. Yes, this one is.
My definition of "open source" is different from the techies. It is not about the "code". Indeed, I am going to open the source of the "traffic" and "revenue", by using my SEO and traffic generation knowledge, we build a community and share the revenue together.
The system is under testing. However system is just a system. We need you to support this idea because it is a community project.
I hope we will launch the beta version in mid or late August.
To learn more details about this "open source" project, please go to our forum: http://www.ambatch.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=133

| Forum Marketing Strategies |
| Wednesday, July 26, 2006 |
If we want someone or a visitor to perform an action, whether it’s helping us, checking out a product, a link, comment on a story or become an affliate, there must be an incentive for the person first. In forum terms, if we want to leverage on a community, whether it’s ours or someone else’s, ask yourself how you can bring value first to that forum. Forum administrators are very nit-picky people, and their moderators can be very very strict with new links posted. ( If you want to advertise in a forum using a link in your signature, posting a new thread etc.) If you are serious about placing a link in a forum which has many members on it, there are a few ways of guaranteeing success in your forum marketing campaign without having your account or threads deleted. 1. Read the rules & regulations first. Don’t assume that just because a forum you participate a lot in has the same rules as the one you want to advertise in. Respect the forum rules and follow in accordance to what they state. If you are allowed only 1 link in your signature, follow that rule as much as you can. Never deviate from it. 2. Never start new threads. If you are a new member to a forum, never ever start a new thread. Other senior members can smell a rat and if you’re looking to advertise, your new thread about your product or service will be deleted within seconds. Always build up your post counts organically by replying to existing threads. More often than not, these threads will not be deleted, and your single post has a higher chance of not being removed. If you are impatient and just want to spam a forum with a link in a new thread, your 2 minutes of sign-up, email authentication as well as confirmation will be wasted with an adminstrator’s two mouse clicks. Would you rather spend 10 minutes to build permanent backlinks to your site? Or would you rather waste 30 “2 minutes” having your thread deleted within seconds? As well as your email account being banned..? Always start slow and build trust.
3. Post new threads…ONLY… …IF your content is NEW and FRESH, and relevant to the forum. So what if i don’t know anything about a forum’s topic or theme (example: Goldfish forum)? Can i start a new thread discussing about the latest news about Gold Fish? Of course i can! Just use… http://news.google.com and key in the keywords which are relevant to the forum’s theme or topic… Fresh, updated news and highly relevant as well. Post a snippet of the news in and provide a link to the source. 4. Make powerful friends. Make friends with moderators and the administrators. Quote their replies and enjoy a good discussion with them. As soon as administrators and moderators find that you are a nice fellow to talk to online(because you’re always paying some attention to them) and can provide some good content from time to time, using their names within your post can make any link immune to deletion. Trust has to be built up over time and has to be done carefully. If you have any questions, always PM or email the forum administrators and clarify. Make them your friends and build a trusting relationship. 5. Bookmark your own threads. Organise and bookmark your own threads, so you can easily return to it later and reply or update it (hopefully to another member and not yourself) Invite other members to provide suggestions, help or comments so this will bump up your thread while leveraging on existing members. Don’t do this too often during a week as it can be seen as spammy. 6. Don’t waste time! It’s all too easy to waste your time posting, and then surfing around the forums..looking for new threads..reading other people’s threads etc…. STOP. If your primary purpose is to increase sales and exposure for your product / service, have a list of forums that you have registered in, log in, post 2-3 replies to the most popular threads, get out, and move onto the next forum. Don’t stop until you have finished all of your target forums within a specific time (e.g. 10 forums within half hour). However...Rules #1 to #5 have to be followed first. By adopting a good healthy forum attitude, behaviour and habit, your product / service links can survive well and long within a community, instead of being thrashed within 2 minutes. Take the time to discover more about the community you want to be part of, and your patience will be rewarded many times over.
If you feel this post makes sense.. we would love to hear your comments in our Community Traffic Category. :-)

| The Myth of Google Backlink Data |
| Saturday, July 22, 2006 |
Lots of webmasters suspected that Google hides a high percentage of backlinks from us since ince they rely on it so much.
Personally, I don't use Google anymore to find backlink data. Yahoo! has said that they have no problem giving out backlink data, so the Yahoo! Site Explorer is a good resource to use.
Suggested method to monitor your backlink
1. Yahoo! Search - http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/ 2. http://www.google.com/alerts - Input your domain as search term and ask Google to show you any new page with this link every day.

| Starting your forum. Issue #1. Momentum. |
| Friday, July 21, 2006 |
For those who are not familiar with the guy in the mask, and the red indian...
That's the Lone Ranger and Tonto, his trusty sidekick. This is probably before the days of Batman and Robin, but how does this tie in with the topic "Momentum"?
When you are building your community, you have to understand that it's very different as compared to starting out as a publishing business or a profit making venture. You can survive as the Lone Ranger for a while when you are starting your own business online.
When it comes to forum building, most new forum admins are still in the lone ranger mindset, and find it hard to get the initial momentum going, they spend days and night installing, configuring, tweaking and designing their forums, and then...they will message all their friends on MSN, ICQ, email and ask them all to join the forum to help "support".
The friends will all help out by registering and posting a few hello messages, after which, since the forum theme doesn't suit all of them, the forum will die a painful and very quick death. A few solutions to getting rid of this momentum problem is to:
1. Look for people who are most interested in your forum niche. Why waste your time telling people who are not interested in Internet Marketing, or Adsense to join your Adsense forum? Work smart by targetting people who are already interested in your niche. They can be found in your email list, other theme-related forums, interest groups off-line.
E.g. If you're starting a fish forum, you can find interested members at the fishing pier where you frequent.
2. Build your organic launch party. An organic launch party is a group who is dedicated to helping your forum get off the ground and bypass the stale period where the forum can be in the beginning stages. Launch party members can be committed to help out by posting 2-3 threads a day for a 2 week period, after which you can be sure there is some content that new visitors can read, and be enticed to become a member. So how do you get launch party members? You can phone, email, talk to potential people on the streets, through online social networks such as friendster (search for related interests).
3. Keep your forum really small (at first!) New forum admins love to create many folders and categories when they first start out, simply because their interests have many subcomponents and niches. This is probably the most biggest and common mistake anyone can make as it can make the forum look very empty and desolate. And when people see that a site / forum is "dead", they won't waste even a second of their time looking at your category descriptions... Start out with 5 categories or less, build up enough posts and threads then slowly segment later when there are too many threads being posted. You won't want to hold a party with 3 friends in a huge castle right?
4. Make the effort to make friends with your members. When new members register onto your forums, take the initiative to ask for his / her name and what his interests / goals / dreams are. By taking note of what they want in their own lives, they will feel more attached to your forum, and have vested interests in contributing to your site. Be personal, friendly and care for your member's needs and wants, and they will repay you a hundred-fold.
5. Encourage your team members to be as friendly as you are. It's quite amazing how a person can give off a certain aura (energy) online, by the way he "talks" and uses smilies :) in his postings. When people can feel that you are friendly and sincere, they will want to stay on and stick around. Encourage members of your administration team to welcome new-comers like they would welcome old friends, and you will build a very warm and enviable culture within your community.
These are some of the basic pointers on how to create that momentum to kick start your forum, if you have any questions or queries regarding this post, feel free to ask in our Community Traffic section of our forum.

| Definition of Internet Publishing Business |
|
Internet publishing business means you generate revenue by selling advertising spaces on your website. It can be either a content website, offering online tools, videos or even social network. You don’t need to be a good writer to succeed in this business.
The traffic source of publishing business can be from search engine and non search engine. SEO is just part of the game. To generate traffic, you should know how to generate traffic from both sources. Non search engine traffic means you don’t need to rely on SEO to drive visitors to your website. e.g. community traffic.
For example, you have a friend network in Myspace. You can show your website (make sure they are interested) in front of them. Encourage them to promote your site to their networks.
At least 50% of Alexa Top 500 websites are not relying on search engine traffic. Internet publishers should not rely on SEO only.

| The best traffic backend today. |
| Wednesday, July 19, 2006 |
For those who are interested in running websites and especially blogs, you may be interested to invest some time and effort into building a forum for your web traffic.
So what's the core differences between a forum and a blog?
A blog allows you to express your thoughts and ideas in a place, where visitors can leave comments about the things that you are currently discussing about. It's easy to use and really simple to maintain without much hassle.
Everyone who's interested in the publishing business knows how hard it can be to continously run an active blog and dedicate themselves to keeping it active by posting at least 3x a week. If you stop posting any less, you will find that your traffic will slowly die off...and soon enough it will be all gone.
So what's the big deal about a forum?
A forum is not like a blog. It is a system which allows groups of people to start discussions around a theme related to your interest. For example, internet marketing (which can involve adsense, marketing, SEO, and all sorts of related topics. The biggest difference is... your website will survive without you, if you have a set of loyal visitors on the backend (which is your forum). It doesn't matter if you stop posting updates, or have to take a long holiday, your forum is there to work for you automatically, allowing visitors to chat and mingle around, create more threads (content) and drive more traffic back to your site.
Sounds like the most perfect, legal way of traffic and content generation as well as brand building? Yes! In fact forums have been around for the longest time but alot of new comers to the web publishing world have still not yet realised the benefits of having a forum as a powerful backend.
We all work very hard to drive traffic to our websites and blogs, but we do not know how to retain the traffic properly, and get the traffic to interact with one another. FYI, Ambatch's forum just started about 4 nights ago and has already nearly 200 members! At this rate, we can expect to hit about 8,000 - 9000 members by end 2006. And what can 8,000 - 9,000 opt-ins do for you? Let's go figure... ;-)
So for today, just think about what kind of forum would suit your interests and business. I will continue my next post on how to start one and generate the most important element (momemtum) a huge problem that EVERY new forum admin will face...
And if you have any questions you would like me to answer with regards to forums, feel free to register on our forum, and post a question. We are more than willing to answer your queries.. :-)Labels: become advanced |

| Build credibility in the forum |
|
Rome is not built in a day.
Business relies on "trust".
If you want to have a lot of customers, I suggest you to build your credibility in the forum.
Why do I need to build credibility? let me give you an example. I have outsourced the graphic design to a guy for 2 years. I knew this guy in a marketing forum. He always post messages and help the newbie to solve the designing problems.
I think this guy is really a pro. So I gave him a small project to test his ability.
After 2 years, he is still my favorite graphic designer. Multilingual Marketer, Brainstorm Generator, Viral Instigator, Videos Monthly....etc..all graphic designs come from him.
Not only he is in my shortlist, I also refer my friends to buy his services. Coz it is trust. I trust him and my friends trust my judgement.
This is credibility
How do you build credibility here? 1. help the members to solve problems. a lot of members post question and ask for help. It's time for you to give professional advice.
2. Post your articles. It is not necessary to find a question and answer it. You can post your experience or opinion on some events or latest news.
When more people see your name in this forum, they will trust you more.
Are you sure a lot of people seeing my name? Our Publisher Forum will keep to launch the new games for our friends. World SEO Championship is one of them. We will have "open source publishing project" very soon. We guarantee we can create huge traffic volume to this site.

However, to apply a strategy with right concept is much more important. Yes, u can say build backlink is the only target for SEO, but at least u should know how to write a press release, there are several points we mentioned in our Backlink Video's Press Release Section and I want to share with u some of it:
1. Stick to the fact 2. Start strong 3. Newsworthy 4. ......
These 3 is the most important points u should bear in mind when u draft a press release even u just want a backlink from it. Remember? Your site information is there, never build a bad image for your site, because it's your business! |

Within 72 hours, we saw there are two Google updates. We found the listing results changed a lot.
For the 1st listing inclusion, we can see the pages with good on-site optimization rank higher. e.g. The players put the keyword "ambatchdotcom seocontest" to the title of the page, inside the content and file name, or even the domain..hahaha
Right now, for the 2nd update, similar result comes. More pages are included. However, you can see some pages are without any targeted keywords (ambatchdotcom seocontest) in the listings.

Why can they rank so well without this targeted keyword?

| Man, don't just focus on on-site optimization strategy |
| Sunday, July 16, 2006 |
This is my latest post in Publisher Forum:
*********************************************************
I have seen lot of players of World SEO Championship who just focus on onsite optimization.
Now you just look at keyword on the meta title of the page, file name, domain, keyword inside the content...
Do you think it is the whole story of SEO?
Actually, the role of offsite optimization plays a more important role than onsite one in SEO strategies. It is because no matter Google or Yahoo, they place more importance on this factor rather than the other issues.
What is offsite optmization? The idea is very simple. For example, I build a hyperlink pointing towards to your website. Then this hyperlink is your backward link (or backlink). It means, I vote to your website.

| SEO Strategies for World SEO Championship |
|
This is my personal suggestion...not a sure-fire strategy :-)
Below is my post in the Publisher Forum.
"I imagine I'm one of the players (actually I cannot join coz it will violate the game rules)
Now we know the target keyword is "ambatchdotcom seocontest".
So I will think about these points..
1. Should I use new or old domain? Hm...according to the rules, I can use either old, new or even free domain like blogspot.com.
Since the event will last for 3 months, it is not a big deal to use either kinds of domain.
For the old domain, my page optimized with "ambatchdotcom seocontest" will be indexed faster. If this page is linked to a site with higher pagerank, it will rank higher definitely.
However, my old domain does not contain any words like "ambatchdotcom" or "seocontest". To solve this problem, I will save the page with the file name like ambatchdotcom-seocontest.html or ambatchdotcom-seocontest.mydomain.com...etc ........
The message is too long, please check the post in my forum..

| Hello. :) |
|
Hi everyone,
I'm Ryan and i hope to share alot of tips and strategies on how to build and manage your forum. I have been running my own forum for the past 5 years and it's Singapore's largest continental car community.
For those who wish to grow their own community, it's easy and can be a very easy way to keep driving traffic back to your website without your input. However most forum admins start out on the wrong foot.. i'll post more details on this later. :) |
