Evolution of internet marketing
Tuesday, May 29, 2007
I started my internet business since 2000, from underground to water surface.

It's time to do an evaluation. I am going to open a new section in my site called "Open Source".

I will upload my former inventions like software and web scripts to ambatch.com for free download, and open source. One of them...maybe the first page generator I did in 2001. It's for personal use only.

I am not going to offer any on-going technical or knowledge support. I do believe, the community of internet marketing has their own ways to best use the tools.

I hope this section will be activated in mid June. Indeed, it is not an one-time project. We keep to add our "dinosaurs" to the site until I stop managing it :-)

The Rich Jerk Is For Sale
Thursday, May 24, 2007
It looks like the Rich Jerk isn't so rich after all. I find that Kelly Felix (the Rich Jerk) is selling the Rich Jerk operation in order to avoid bankruptcy.

The source says that Kelly blew a ton of investors money to buy advertising on Howard Stern and fake commercials/tv spots to make it look like he was rich.

Actually, it's not my first time to hear similar news. In this industry, many internet marketers try to put a lot of money for advertising, to "say" they are rich. They make a lot, but spend a lot too. So the net profit is closed to zero or even losing money.

I went to webmasterworld.com to see there was any feedback from Kelly Felix. There was no feedback.

You can find his business is listed for sale at BizQuest.com with an asking price of $8 million. No detail was given on what kind of sales the Jerk brings in.

I think a lot of newbies or even experienced internet marketers are suffered from the "Rich Jerk Scam". I hope you will not the one of them.

on linje dating
Wednesday, May 23, 2007
"on linje dating" ....What is it? It's a Norwegian. It means "online dating".

Does it relate to my web publishing business? Yes definitely.

You know....there are around 120K searches for this keyword in Norway. What make me happy is....there are only 7 real competitors and 5 Adwords advertisers there.

If you are a web publisher, I believe you can understand how good the opportunity is.

Your next question is: How can I find this keyword :-) ? I will show you later!

Newbie Savior
I have always been receiving queries from newbies concerning typical questions like:
How should I start? What should I sell? I don’t have a product, but I don’t have money to hire a ghostwriter…I don’t have a list, how can I promote a product? e.t.c.

Well… Be honest, I find that many newbies buy many internet marketing courses while they keep asking these questions. I believe that none of them ever take actions. This is understandable as it is always not easy to step out of your comfort zone.

I always believe that Business is a process of resource exchange. If you want to make money, you must put effort in return for money. However… a guy has violated this natural law. This guy is called Vince Tan, a recent pop-up internet marketing guru. He has set up an absolutely powerful turnkey system which enables EVERYONE to start making money, even for newbies who knows NOTHING about internet marketing.

For those who know me for a long time must know that I rarely promote other marketers’ products, especially a new pop-up star in the market, unless the product can really add value on my faithful readers.

One day, Vince reached my office number and requested me to promote his product. I firmly rejected him immediately and hanged up. However, he did not give up. He kept calling me to review his product.

Well… I did not want him to call me anymore and therefore took a look. I was really shocked by the complete turnkey system which he spent countless time to develop. This is definitely an All-In-One system which includes EVERYTHING which you need to start making money within a few MINUTES. For further details, please go and visit.

Common problems for beginners in publishing business
Friday, May 18, 2007
This is the 2nd week of Master Publisher Program. We have finally reviewed all assignment submitted by the students.

Students' performance is generally ok, but most of them have confusions between the linkage between website and human behaviour. Quite many of them think that a good website should have the following features: blog, forum, bla bla bla. Web features or we call Content Presentation, are just tools for information delivery. Purely content topic or web features cannot drive sustainable traffic while you have to think about the flow of actions when visitors come to your website. For example, if you have a team of army and very good weapons, does it mean that you can win the battle? Not necessarily, your strategy and execution plan would take heavy weight in this area.

Front-end: PageRank, Back-end: Duplicate Content
Monday, May 14, 2007
Many newbies recently ask me, "What is the purpose of PageRank? Why is it important?"

Let's see how Google describes PageRank:
"PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page's value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves "important" weigh more heavily and help to make other pages "important"."

In other words, a PageRank results from a "ballot" among all the other pages on the World Wide Web about how important a page is. A hyperlink to a page counts as a vote of support. The PageRank of a page is defined recursively and depends on the number and PageRank metric of all pages that link to it ("incoming links"). A page that is linked to by many pages with high PageRank receives a high rank itself. If there are no links to a web page there is no support for that page.

Numerous academic papers concerning PageRank have been published since Page and Brin's original paper. In practice, the PageRank concept has proven to be vulnerable to manipulation, and extensive research has been devoted to identifying falsely inflated PageRank and ways to ignore links from documents with falsely inflated PageRank.
_________________________________________________________

What do you feel about this article? Looks cool, right? Actually we simply dragged this post from another site so Google regards this as duplicate content.

Many people worry that Google would delist sites with duplicate content but indeed this is redundant worry. Think in this way: when there is a good blog post, you may read the same post in many other people's blog, right? When there is a hot news, you may read the same news article in many different sites, right? Actually the webmasters of these sites are not AdSense player but they simply want to share some great topic with the public. This is normal human behaviour and Google does not act against normal human

What Google really delists are those junk sites built by junk page generator which leaves footprint for the search engine crawler to find out. Of course, we do not suggest 100% duplicate content. We would suggest people to do small modification at the beginning and at the end, maybe write some comments about the post dragged from other people's websites. The advantage is that you do not have to think of 100% original content while the disadvantage the efficiency in building site would be greatly lower as you do not use software to automate the process.

Master Publisher Program Week 1
Wednesday, May 09, 2007
Hello everybody, Master Publisher Program has started eventually. After several months' development, we believe our course materials and assignments would definitely help the newbies to grow quickly. Of course, the assignments are tough and the allowed time frame for homework is very tight. Well... we firmly believe... no pain, no gain. Luckiliy, all students are very keen and passionate. I am surprised and impressed with their positive responses. I have already received assignments from 2 students just the day after I sent out the assignment instructions.

What shocks me most is that there are 3-4 gurus in our student list. I am sure that student interaction is going to be amazing. We wish the students will keep asking questions and practise until they can capture all concepts. Week 1 we focus on the fundamentals of Web Publishing, which includes the underlying nature of this business, online world activities, online activities of different countries, how to target, evaluation of your core abilities to master this game, and so on. The feedback from an experienced publisher is very positive and I am extremely satisfied by her encouragement.

However, from the assignment I collected, I can see students are still confused about the difference between content topic and presentation. Haha. As I expected, most of the students would think they have already known those fundamental concepts but actually not. Come on guys, practice makes perfect. I am sure all of you will soon capture the essence of the publishing game.
Finally, who is the girl? She is not in Ambatch team, but I hope she is. Haha, this is just our trick, we are counting how many people would click on her image. LOL

Can Bidvertiser help us to make money online?
Friday, May 04, 2007
Bidvertiser is a cost per click advertising program. It has been recently endorsed by many web publishers in the world.

Today I spent an hour to try and test this program. Definitely I believe this program cannot be compared to Google Adsense. I mean the "payout". However, it is always worth to test a new idea available in our industry.

Bidvertiser for Web Publishers like Us!

It's very easy to get a Bidvertiser publisher account. You don't need to wait for 24-72 hours website review. Indeed, once you fill the application form, you can put the ad code to your website instantly.

Definitely, if you are the Adsense publisher, I am sure you will not face any difficulty to put the ad code to your website or blog.

Bidvertiser pays you by check or Paypal. The minimum payout is $10. For small publishers, it is always good to see some bucks (your rewards) in your bank account, right?

How about the Payout?

On the Bidvertiser website, I cannot find the payout ratio from this company, similar situation to Google Adsense. However, I check the maximum bid of the ads in my category like internet marketing, I can see it is still quite attractive..

Similar to Google Adsense, you can customize your ad layout as you like at Bidvertiser. The most beautiful part is, you can control the ad site is opened in a "new window". So it is not necessary to bring your visitors away from your website. (see the left hand side of my site)

If you consider to add "Bidvertiser" as one of the source of the whole revenue portfolio, I highly recommend you to take action now.

7-Eleven or Diamond Shop
Wednesday, May 02, 2007
Your website is 7-Eleven (convinent store) or a diamond shop?

Definitely, your question is, which one brings me more money, right?

By common sense, 7-Eleven should have more traffic than a diamond shop. It is because it offers more diversified products which can attract different people to buy e.g. drinks, fast food, snacks. For diamond shop, it offers diamond jewelary alone. You cannot expect the customers ask for coca-cola in the diamond shop, right?

Does it mean the owner of 7-Eleven makes more than the one of diamond shop? There's no answer.

The profit margin of a diamond shop owner can be 30-50%. You know, a normal diamond ring can be sold around $300-$500USD. A bottle of coca-cola is around $0.5USD.

So it's tough to say who can make more than either one. The diamond shop with less traffic may make money more than a convinent store.

Definitely, without traffic, both shop owners make ZERO profit.

Each niche has a maximum level. As a webmaster, you cannot expect to generate unlimited amount of traffic. Indeed, your job is to achieve market domination or saturation, that you can make the most from your niche, no matter you run a convinent store or diamond shop.

So we can find the formula like that:

7-Eleven: maximum traffic level x $0.5USD = maximum earning level
Diamond shop: maximum traffic level x $$300USD = maximum earning level

Once you achieve that maximum level, your next job is to split the model into 2. E.g. you have a dimond shop. You can open a new one in another location, OR sell gold jewelary. By diversifying your niche, you can attract another kind of people to come to the shop. The total traffic volume will be increased.
Where's my money...

It's time to rethink about your revenue model - Part 2
Tuesday, May 01, 2007
Website traffic - all publishers want traffic - a lot of traffic.

Indeed, not every website can generate huge traffic. Why? It's because every niche (target group) has its own maximum level. For example, if there are around 100K people looking for the content related to "internet marketing" every month, how come you can expect to generate more than 1 million unique visitors to your website in 1 month?

It is not necessary to build a high traffic website. Indeed, you can choose the high net worth niche to target to.

For example, your site is talking about private plane. We are quite sure that only few people in the world can afford to buy their own plane, right? Definitely you cannot expect the traffic volume of your website will be very high. However, no matter you put an ad or referring a sales of private plane, the commission will be as high as millions USD (supposed the plane developer is OK to make a deal with you)..

You have choice. You can target to general group or rich people. It is totally up to you. Once you determine the target group, then next step is how to reach these people....? Yep..How?

We are discussing this topic in the forum. Click here.
